Barton & Loguidice Project Wins Landscape Architect Award

ROCHESTER, NY – Barton & Loguidice’s landscape architect project “Regional Green Infrastructure Showcase at the Rochester Museum & Science Center” received a Merit Award of Achievement in the Built Design category from the Update New York Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) at their annual awards ceremony held in Syracuse on Friday, February 3, 2017.

The Showcase at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) provides a living laboratory, an outdoor classroom, and a real-life demonstration of how Green Infrastructure can contribute to water quality, community sustainability, and urban revitalization.

The showcase design was developed collaboratively with Barton & Loguidice (B&L) and RMSC staff, along with several key partners including Stormwater Coalition of Monroe County, Rochester Institute of Technology, and New York Water Environment Association. The project addresses a regional need for Green Infrastructure education. RMSC provides an ideal venue for the transfer of Green Infrastructure technologies. Members of the award-winning team include: Barton & Loguidice, CJS Architects, Gong Glass Works, Pike Construction, Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care and New Energy Works Timberframers.

The ASLA Award Program received a total of 24 professional entries distributed among five categories. This year’s entries were judged by a multi-disciplinary jury established by the Indiana Chapter ASLA.  According to Thomas M. Robinson, Senior Managing Landscape Architect with B&L, “It was truly meaningful to have the project recognized by a panel of design professionals.” He added, “We were privileged to guide a project that has the potential to leave a sustaining and positive impact on the community.”
