The vintage diner that Larkin Development Group principal Howard Zemsky bought and transported from Central New York is being installed on its new site at 694 Swan St.

Located across from Larkin Square and next to the Hydraulic Hearth restaurant operated by Zemsky's son, it's expected to be completed shortly, enabling the restaurant to begin serving diner classics for breakfast and lunch daily within two months.

The former Newark Diner is a 40-foot-long 1937 Sterling model with 11 counter stools and additional booth seating for a total capacity of about 50 people. After Zemsky saw it and bought it in 2013, it was renovated for reuse. Crews are currently erecting an addition around it for the kitchen and bathrooms.

Designed by CJS Architects, the project is being handled by Rochester-based Empire Commercial Construction, a retail division of regional general contractor Taylor, The Builders.
