The goal of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ President’s House was to create a fresh and modern aesthetic for the classic Greek revival home with sophisticated materials and luxurious finishes, blending the best of contemporary and traditional design, comfort and style.
With the backdrop being one of the Finger Lakes the color palette was influenced by Seneca Lake with the layering tones of grays, blues and greens as you experience the spaces.
Several custom furniture pieces were sourced from a local designer. Whimsical lighting and a curated eclectic art collection from the college’s collection create refined harmonious, comfortable spaces mainly used for entertaining and hosting a range of events by the college’s president.
This dramatic combination produces sophisticated, elegant environment infused with warmth and ease, streamlined without sacrificing any of its classic charm.
