CJS Architects completed the Orchestra Shell and Stage Renovation for the University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music for the 2004-2005 season of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
A 50 foot high decorative shell was designed to create the proper acoustical environment for orchestral performances in the Eastman Theater and provide an appropriate backdrop for these performances. When not in use the shell folds and is retracted into the fly space to allow for full use of the theater stage for other types of performances.
In addition to the Orchestra shell, CJS designed and updated other stage equipment to allow for full utilization of the space. E.g.. Stage lift, rigging, lighting, stage floor, grid iron, etc.
