CJS was retained to design a 140,000 sf addition and complete a 60,000 renovation of existing space. The renovation was focused on two vacant Eastman School of Music dormitory in order to allow for relocation of all corridors, and stairs. It also allowed for vertical distribution of mechanical services that was required because of a restrictive ten foot ceiling height. The new addition accommodated three theatres, dance studios, gymnasium and a cafeteria which also connects to existing buildings.

Masonry exteriors of the existing buildings were restored and all windows replaced with in kind windows to maintain the historic integrity of the building. Exterior design of the addition included brick arches that reflected similar arches of the Memorial Art Gallery in close proximity and continue the harmony of the built fabric of the area
