CJS Architects is proud to announce that two of its significant preservation projects, the West Side Bazaar and the Seneca Knitting Mill, were recognized last week by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for their outstanding contributions. The West Side Bazaar was honored with the 'Excellence in Non-Profit Achievement Award,' while the historic Seneca Knitting Mill was presented with the prestigious '2025 Joan K. Davidson New York State Historic Preservation Award.'

The West Side Bazaar, a vibrant incubator for entrepreneurs and a cultural hub, received the 'Excellence in Non-Profit Achievement Award,' highlighting its impactful work within the community and its success in fostering economic opportunity.

The Seneca Knitting Mill rehabilitation project was awarded the '2025 Joan K. Davidson New York State Historic Preservation Award.' This accolade recognizes transformational projects that exemplify the power of grassroots historic preservation efforts, a cause deeply championed by the late Commissioner Davidson. The ten-year endeavor to rehabilitate the Seneca Knitting Mill has successfully preserved a building intricately woven with the history of Seneca Falls, widely recognized as the birthplace of the Women’s Rights Movement in the United States and provide a new home for the The National Women's Hall of Fame.

"We are incredibly honored and grateful to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for recognizing the hard work, dedication, and community impact of both the West Side Bazaar and the Seneca Knitting Mill project," said Courtney Creenan-Chorley; Senior Project Architect. "These awards are a testament to our team's commitment and the collaborative spirit of our partners and supporters. The West Side Bazaar continues to empower aspiring entrepreneurs, and the preservation of the Seneca Knitting Mill ensures that a vital piece of New York's rich history, particularly its connection to the Women's Rights Movement, endures for future generations."

The New York State Historic Preservation Awards, presented by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, celebrate excellence in the protection and rejuvenation of New York’s historic and cultural resources.
